Active Member Standing Rules

Active members must live within the Lake Highlands High School boundaries as defined by the Richardson Independent School District. Active membership shall consist of no more than 125 Active Members. Active members may remain active in the group until the member’s youngest child enters first grade or they reach the age of 39 as of June 1 of the current year. An Active member desiring to renew membership must do so by May 31 of the current year. Every Active Member who is not an Officer or Committee Chair must serve on a committee.

Membership Requirements

1. Each member must attend 4 out of 5 general membership meetings. If a member must miss more than one meeting, the member may make up this meeting by completing additional service hours if available. 2. Each member must actively serve on one committee and attend 1 or 2 committee meetings. 3. Each member must attend and work the Run the Highlands (including set up and clean up) the last weekend of April. 4. Each member is required to solicit and obtain at least $100 cash minimum from a sponsor or sponsors. 5. Each member is required to sign-up 4 people or one family membership for the Run the Highlands (this may include you and your family). Give names to Race Logistics Chairperson for credit.

Sustainer Member Standing Rules

1. A member of at least five years status, or a member who has aged out, as an Active Member in good standing may petition for a status as a Sustaining Member. 2. A Sustaining Member will not have voting rights. 3. A Sustaining Member will have social privileges. 4. A Sustaining Member will not be subject to annual review but may be re-activated and placed at the top of the waiting list for Active Membership. 5. A former member qualifying for a sustainer status may return as a Sustaining Member. 6. A former member qualifying for sustainer status may request placement at the top of the waiting list for Active Membership.

Run the Highlands Committee

The Run the Highlands Committee is divided into two categories: Logistics and Carnival. The Logistics committee is chaired by the Registration Chair and Logistics Chair. The Carnival committee is chaired by the Carnival Chair. Both committees are overseen by the Run the Highlands Chairman. - The Logistics committee is responsible for all activities to support the race (logistics, permits, registration, t-shirts, awards, volunteers, and ceremony). - The Carnival committee is responsible for planning and implementing the carnival after the run including the entertainment, food, and set up for the awards ceremony.

Fundraising Committee

- Chaired by Fundraising Development Chairman managing the Sponsor Solicitation Chair and Fundraising Relations Chair. - Solicit sponsors for the Run the Highlands including new, returning, corporate, and family sponsors.

Public Relations Committee

- Support all the Run the Highlands and Light Up the Highlands advertising including yard signs and poster distribution. - Chaired by Public Relations Chairmen managing the Website Chair, Social Media Chair, and Advertising Chair.

Social Committee

- Chaired by the Social Events Chair. - Plan the social events throughout the year to further the mission of meeting others and establishing roots in Lake Highlands.

Light Up the Highlands/Philanthropy Committee

- Chaired by the Philanthropy Chairman and Light Up the Highlands Chairman. - Support all Light Up the Highlands event planning and advertising. - Research and implementation of funds raised by the Run Highlands to improve Lake Highlands.
